Day 1San GimignanoThis City of Towers houses a rich array of religious as well as secular frescoes and monuments. Loosen your limbs with a little exploration or sample local specialties such as salami and cheese before the journey begins.
Day 2San Gimignano to Colle Val d'ElsaMake your way over a medieval landscape to charming Colle Val d'Elsa. Connected by 'tunnel' streets, the old town is rich in ancient buildings and the many museums offer an insight into the colourful history of this region. Why not shop for some crystal? -This town is world-renowned for it.
Day 3Colle Val d'Elsa to MonteriggioniHeavy ramparts form a full circle around Monteriggioni, harking back to its military past. A walk along the evocative ring of walls brings you back to a bygone era and afterwards, you can relax with a glass of Chianti.
Days 4-5Monteriggioni to SienaMake your way to the heart of Tuscany - Siena - a treasure trove of Romanesque and Gothic art and architecture. The magnificent Campo, site of the Palio bareback horse race in summer is the perfect place to end your journey. Sit back here and enjoy a piece of panforte, an almond and honey cake this city is famous for - you deserve it!
