Trawl the Gianyar night market for delicious local food. | | Day 3 | Sidemen | Take a leisurely bike ride through back lanes, rice paddies and past beautiful temples - a great opportunity to meet the locals. | | Day 4 | Mt Batur | Sample a traditional 'bungkus' (take-away) lunch in the cool mountain air of Sideman before moving on to a small fishing village by Lake Batur. | | Days 5-7 | Lovina | Hike to the summit of Mt Batur in time for sunrise. Then trade mountains with the beach for a chance to snorkel, scuba or swim in pristine waters. | | Day 8 | Ubud | Get off-the-beaten-track exploring fragrant coffee and clove plantations before taking a dip beneath a hidden waterfall on a half-day walk in Munduk. | | Day 9 | Kuta, Lombok | Unlike its Balinese counterpart, Lombok's Kuta beach is relatively crowd-free.
